Pissarro fans and scholars can easily access this valuable resource for general information or comprehensive research—especially important for 2030, Pissarro’s 200th birthday.


Pissarro: Critical Catalogue of Paintings by Joachim Pissarro and Claire Durand-Ruel Snollaerts (2005) can be found online at: https://wpi.art/2019/01/08/pissarro/.

The website includes the entire three volumes with 1528 paintings, a detailed chronology of Pissarro’s life, numerous photographs, bibliography, and a list of exhibitions. There are several essays by the late Richard Brettell, Joachim Pissarro, Claire Durand-Ruel Snollaerts, and Alexia de Buffévent. Content in Volumes II and III is available in both French and English.

The website shows the title page and a photograph of Pissarro. Below that, you can access the individual volumes. Volume I contains the essays, chronology, and other general information. Volume II contains paintings from 1852 to 1884 when Pissarro moved from Osny to Éragny. Volume III contains paintings from the remainder of 1884 to 1903. Each volume has capability for zooming in and search.

This resource opens new avenues of research for everyone interested in learning more about Pissarro and his paintings.
